Icons- What defines you as a poet?
Minx- My poetry is my purest emotion in writing. Love, Hate, Despair, Hurt and Shame you name it I experienced it and I wrote it.
Icons- What was some of your inspirational moments as a poet?
Minx- As a woman heartbreak speaks to us all. Sometimes I look at other women who are abused and don’t know how to get out. So my own breakups, physical pain or just depression I have used as inspiration
Icons- Poetry stems from within, what are your views about this?
Minx- It definitely does, my work can’t just be written off the top of my head, it has to be felt deep within, maybe something I experienced or a situation that tugged at my soul.
Icons- How do you relate your message to your audience?
Minx- I speak from the heart so I am sure they can feel my pain or joy even anger
I keep it simple so anyone reading can relate to my poetry.
Icons- what projects are you currently working on?
Minx- Currently, I am a part of a Non-Profit organization called the Leading Ladies. Definitely a group of real women/mothers on a Mission to Uplift other women/mothers. We are collecting from the public, beauty supply items to give to the women at various shelters who are regaining their soul after surviving domestically violent situations. This is close to home for me because I grew up in a domestically violent home. These women need us, therefore, in October we are giving them a new outlook on their appearances how to embrace who they see in the mirror. How to see the beautiful strong woman they have become today. After my hands on experience in that Beauty Uplifting day I am sure Iwill have a lot to write about
Icons-What are your goals as a poet within the next year?
Minx- Life has been hectic so my goal is to write lots more. I would like to write a book eventually but no one knows what tomorrow will bring. However, on business note I am a hairstylist and bigger things will come soon. Stay tuned for Belza Dentro. :)
